HH the Emir Meets Former Finnish President, WTO's Director-General

Doha, April 23 (QNA) - HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani met at his Emiri Diwan Office here on Monday morning each of HE Finland's former president Taria Halonen and HE Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Pascal Lamy.
The two guests called on to greet HH the Emir on the occasion of their current visit to Qatar to attend the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD XIII), currently in progress in Doha. (QNA)

HH Sheikha Moza Witnesses National Research Strategy Forum

Doha, April 23 (QNA) - HH Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser on Monday witnessed the activities of the State's National Research Strategy Forum held at the student centre at the Education City here today.
The forum was attended by those in charge of the research institutes affiliating to the QF along with representatives of a number of other governmental organs and institutions concerned with the scientific research in the state .
The participants discussed the real application of the aforesaid strategy to ensure the achievement of the cherished goals.
It is worthy to mention that the National Research Strategy is an umbrella aiming to include all projects and research visions in Qatar as it assembles universities , scientific research centres , the governmental organs and the business and energy sector and link them directly to Qatar National Vision 2030 with a view to turning Qatar's economy to an economy based on information.(QNA

Qatar and Italy Hold Official Talks

Rome , April 16 (QNA) - HH the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani arrived in the Italian capital of Rome, for a two-day visit to the Republic of Italy.
HH the Emir is accompanied by the HH Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser.
HH the Emir is also accompanied by a high-ranking official delegation.
Upon arrival , HH the Emir and HH Sheikha Moza headed to the Quirinal Republican Palace, where a red-carpet reception ceremonies were accorded to them .
Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and his wife welcomed HH the Emir and HH Sheikha Moza upon arrival at the presidential palce . A number of their excellencies the Italian Ministers and senior officials were also on hand to welcome HH the Emir.

After the reception ceremonies, HH the Emir and the Italian President held a meeting and discussed bilateral relations and other issues of joint interest.
Their excellencies the members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Emir attended the meeting. (QNA)

The First Ever Bloomberg Doha Conference Kicks Off

Doha, April 16 (QNA) - The first ever Bloomberg Doha Conference organized by Bloomberg LINK in partnership with the Qatar Financial Centre Authority ("QFC Authority") opens at the Ritz Carlton, Doha on Monday. More than 300 asset managers and financial industry leaders from Asia, Europe, the U.S. and the Middle East are attending the event.
Abdulrahman Ahmad Al-Shaibi, Managing Director and Board Member, Qatar Financial Centre Authority; the Chairman of QFC Authority Board Audit and Risk Committee and Director of Finance, Qatar Petroleum Group in his keynote address before the conference described how awareness and understanding of the Qatar Financial Centre are growing globally.
Abdulrahman Al Shaibi lauded the strength and durability of the Qatari economy, which is witnessing high growth rates since 2005 with a total GDP of the country 173 billion riyals last year.
Managing Director and Board Member, Qatar Financial Centre Authority meantime pointed out that the State of Qatar is working to promote economic diversification through the formulation of investment programs in various fields and promote the knowledge economy transition from a rentier economy, which is based on oil and gas as the only source of income.
Abdulrahman Al Shaibi pointed out that companies that fall under the Qatar Financial Centre supervision shall be subject to a tax rate of 10% which is low and represented an incentive for those companies to invest in the State of Qatar in the current climate, a catalyst to it.
Meanwhile Robert Bierman, head of Bloomberg LINK said in a similar address, "We re looking forward to the start of our first Middle East conference in Qatar and are confident that the Bloomberg brand and the community will benefit from this new event, particularly given that nearly 50 percent of the audience are traveling from outside of the Middle East to join us."
"These participants will have the opportunity to hear the perspectives of influential business, government and finance leaders who are converging in Doha from three continents," he told the conferees .
For his part, Shashank Srivastava, Acting CEO, the QFC Authority, said: "The Bloomberg Doha Conference takes place amid renewed global economic uncertainty. The conference will go on to examine major themes such as the global challenges affecting asset managers, the investment opportunities in a broad range of asset classes and the market conditions for investors in the Middle East.

HE the Prime Minister Meets Deputy Premier of Albania

Doha/(QNA)/25 March 2012/ HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani received this evening the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Albania Edmond Haxhinasto and his accompanying delegation, currently visiting the country.
During the meeting, they reviewed the relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them in various fields, in addition to issues of mutual interest.

HH the Emir, HH Sheikha Moza Inaugurate Rosa Hassad Company

Doha, March 20 (QNA) - HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani and HH Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser have sponsored the inauguration of the Rosa Hassad (Harvest) Company in Sha'aniyeh area on Tuesday. At the outset of the inaugural ceremony, Their Highnesses toured the associated exhibition displaying kinds of flowers produced by the said project.
Then the ceremony started with a detailed presentation about the project and its goals and future plans. 
Later HH the Emir sponsored the opening of the project and in virtue of a generous initiative of HH the Emir, HH launched the name of /Moza/ on a new kind of flowers produced by Rosa Hassad (Harvest), making it a registered brand and an authorized name across the world.
Then HH the Emir and HH Sheikha Moza made a tour during which Their Highnesses were briefed on the most important kinds of flowers produced and the agricultural modus operandi in use.
The ceremony was attended by a number of Their Excellencies Sheikhs, the Ministers, and Their Excellencies members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the State of Qatar.(QNA)
